Who Sees Buy Prices in PartsTrader?

 

One of our core commitments to the industry is to protect confidential data. Critical to this point is the fact that the only users with access to the buy price on parts are the buyer and the seller involved in the transaction. 

 

The only exception to this commitment is with respect to recycled parts, for which the industry practice is for insurance companies to reimburse the shop for their buy price plus an agreed-upon markup.

 

With PartsTrader as a channel for as many as 15,000 orders, or over $6 million in transaction value, in a single day, we have proven this point over and over again. Not a single buy price is visible to any party other than the two companies directly participating in the transaction.  Those companies without visibility in to the purchase price include other parts providers and insurance companies.

Import on the PartsTrader

Parts Required tab to import job part data, you can save time throughout the day by simply making a small change to your

Company Settings

Here's how to authorize all jobs to be immediately available in PartsTrader:

  1. Click the Profile link in the black bar at the top of your PartsTrader Screen.
  2. Click the Company Settings link in the menu at the left side of your My Company tab within the Profile
  3. Scroll down to the Configure Data Import Preferences section and select the top choice (it says "yes, Automatically Import estimate data for ALL jobs")
  4. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen

Once this change is made, you will still need to click Import for any jobs submitted from your estimating system before the change, but all future estimates will import automatically for you to begin requesting quotes or placing Direct Orders.

If you've had recent changes in staff responsibility, or if you simply want to learn to use some of the "bells and whistles" in PartsTrader more effectively, consider a small investment of time for training. 

 

"At PartsTrader, we recognize that people learn in different ways, so we've provided options," stated Lucy Smith, Product Communications Manager. Among the available choices are:

  • Online webinars -- click here for a menu
  • Short video courses (see the "Welcome" tab after logging in to PartsTrader)
  • Small group training
  • Phone-based training
  • In-person Check-ins with Field Sales Managers

"Every member of the team at PartsTrader looks for ways to help users use the tools within the PartsTrader marketplace," Smith continued. "When we ask if there's anything else we can help with or demonstrate, it's because there are frequently new features or settings that can make someone's workday better. If someone is facing a challenge, we often have a solution or suggestion that can help."
